


Objectives

To enhance access to quality education for the deaf

To enhance access to information, services and resources available in the community

To collect, document and disseminate information related to hearing impairment.

To lobby and advocate for the rights and interests of hearing impaired children.

To promote research related to deafness and hearing loss.

To promote guidance and counseling services for hearing impaired children and their families.

To supplement the efforts of the Kenya government to meet the needs of children with disabilities.

To promote the institutionalization , development and use of Kenyan sign language (KSL).

To collaborate and network with all stakeholders working for the welfare of hearing impaired children.

Generally to do anything that may be conducive towards the attainment of the foregoing objectives.
Achievements
- KSDC has constructed equipped and furnished over 30 full-fledged schools for the Deaf in the country.
- The Society has provided over 20 other schools with infrastructure development, bursary support or other related assistance
- KSDC has sponsored thousands of needy Deaf children through their primary, secondary and tertiary education
- The Society has carried out extensive research into causes, prevalence and prevention of deafness in Kenya and engaged in wide ranging intervention measures
- KSDC has built a strong network of parents through which substantial empowerment of families of the Deaf has been carried out.
- The Society is the leading supplier of hearing aids and audiological equipment in the country.
- The society is leading champion in the fight for rights of hearing impaired children including initiating legal intervention towards enforcement of specific rights.
